Telemedicine Clinic Success Story

Reading is global, and so is BetterBookClub! Our client Telemedicine Clinic (TMC) is located in Barcelona, Spain. They are a subspecialist radiology center that provides 24-hour reporting services and support to more than 100 public service hospitals and local health authorities in Europe.

Before BetterBookClub, TMC manually logged their employees’ reading, which was complicated and time consuming for everyone involved. The way they see it, one of the biggest benefits of participating in BetterBookClub is having a well-designed application to simplify the management of their reading program. The BetterBookClub application easily lists top readers, provides annual employee anniversary reports, schedules meetings, and recommends books to others. TMC realizes that they are in a specific industry that’s constantly changing, and their team needs to continuously learn and adapt for their company to thrive on an international level.

Employees at TMC are interested in the BetterBookClub program because they are natural learners. However, paying their users to read also contributes to increased participation among employees. Instead of various reward increments for employee participation, TMC decided to offer a standard reward of €25 per posted book report on their company’s BetterBookClub. Again, simplicity was their main focus when they chose to use BetterBookClub.

TMC has hosted two BetterBookClub meetings since they launched the program in early 2015. Attendance at meetings is not a requirement to be rewarded for reading, but rather a way for employees to share their thoughts in a group setting.

Dèbora Murillo is TMC’s People & Values Specialist, and also serves as the company’s BetterBookClub Champion. When several employees read the book “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking” by Susan Cain, Murillo noticed that TMC has a number of “undercover” introverts. This insight into their employees’ personalities has helped them better engage with their coworkers and clients.
