Read, Report, Reward

read, report, reward

The Three R’s of BetterBookClub.com are:

  1. Read
  2. Report
  3. Reward

The obvious first “R” in BetterBookClub.com is to read a book. We suggest that employees pick out their own book from a list of pre-approved books instead of having everyone reading the same book at the same time. We suggest this in order to help you grow your physical library naturally without it having to be a budget breaker.

The second “R” represents reporting on the book read. Once a book is read by an employee, they fill out a simple online report that is saved for other employees to reference.

Our BetterBookClub.com software comes pre-loaded with questions to get you started. This simple report is filled out by employees to prove that they have read the book and absorbed the knowledge from the book. While you can come up with questions that work for your specific company, your BetterBookClub.com software comes with a pre-loaded report with questions like:

  • What is your favorite quote from the book?
  • What is a specific real- world application that you will be able to make from what you learned in this book?
  • What is the one thing that you think you will do differently or think differently about since you read the book?
  • What is one point you disagreed with, or at least questioned, in this book?
  • How does something you learned from this book tie into one of the core values of the company?
  • If asked to summarize the book in 2-3 sentences, what would you say?

This report will be the same no matter what book a person chooses to read, so employees will easily get into the habit of looking for the answers within the book while they are reading.

The third “R” is reward. We suggest something like a simple gift card that is tiered based on the point value of the book that is read. However, a reward can be anything of value. A few suggestions are:

  • Offering a “Lunch And Learn” where employees could go to an offsite restaurant to have a nice lunch provided by the company and talk about their previous reading
  • Go to a local coffee shop and the company pays for everyone’s drink purchase
  • Company swag
  • Extra PTO day
  • End-of-the-year gifts for the top three readers

Happy Reading!
